As part of our ongoing work, the York Pioneer and Historical Society produces a series of publications for both the membership and the community at large to help preserve our history and to keep our members informed about our work and events. The list below summerizes some of the material available on this website and for purchase to add to your collection.
The York Pioneer
The York Pioneer is the direct descendant of The Annual Report of the York Pioneer and Historical Society, first published in 1904. The early volumes carried only committee reports and lists of recently deceased members. By the 1950s, the content had become mainly articles written for publication on many different historical topics and people; in 1955, the current name was adopted to reflect the change in focus.
You can order copies of the current issue as well as past issues of the York Pioneer on our Store_Front page along with descriptions of the contents of the current and featured issues. Additionally, we publish other works about specific historical topics, and historic sites in York Region and Toronto. These are available on our Store_Front page along with descriptions of the various books. These can make lovely gifits for the history lover in your family.
